Frequently Asked Questions

How does eGive work?
Sign up for eGive and your giving is deducted by Automated Clearing House (ACH) debit from your deposit account.

How do I sign up for eGive?
Fill out the eGive signup form online.

Is it secure?
The electronic signup is done using 128-bit encryption for the highest level of security.

Is eGiving safe?
Yes. The Automated Clearing House (ACH) network is a nationwide electronic payments system used by more than 20,000 financial institutions, 4 million corporations, and 135 million consumers. ACH is used for direct deposit, bill payment, home banking, point of sale, point of purchase, cash concentration and disbursement, corporate trade payments, check truncation, and now eGiving.

The Automated Clearing House (ACH) processed more than 18 billion automated clearing house payments valued at $37 trillion during 2007 according to NACHA – The Electronic Payments Association. As a result of this network, eGive guarantees an accurate electronic debit from your account.

Is it possible to divide my giving into categories?
Yes. One debit will be posted to your account. However, you can divide your gift to include your tithe, building fund, or other areas into one gift. The giving breakout information will be sent by eGive to SonRise.

Can I set up a recurring gift?
Yes. You can set up eGive to draft your bank account at regular intervals so that you don't have to bother with logging in and giving each month.

When would this automatic contribution be taken from my account?
You can specify whether you want your contribution made one-time, weekly, semi-monthly, monthly or as designated.  When the date you have selected falls on a weekend or holiday, the transaction will occur on the next business day.

Is there any charge to me from my bank to give online?
No.  Electronic funds transfers carry no bank fees and this service is free for you.

Why can’t I give by credit card?
We chose to set up eGiving through electronic funds transfer rather than credit card for two primary reasons:

  • With electronic transfer, your entire gift goes to the church.  When using a credit card, as much as 4% of your gift would go to the credit card company.
  • Although many pay off their credit cards each month, many also do not.  We do not want to potentially put someone in the place of going in debt and paying credit interest on gifts given to the church.
